Trip planning service to be launched in May

Metrobus will be launching a new on-line trip planning service later this month.  The new service will allow visitors to Metrobus Dot Com to plan trips by receiving route information instantaneously from the company's website. Metrobus Manager of Marketing & Information Services Mark Chancey says it's just the latest in a series of enhancements to the website.   "Our goal over the last 18 months has been to get customers to our website by building the best website in public transit, period. Today we receive upwards of 50,000 visits each month and our web site is the most efficient way for us to respond to customer inquiries."

Using the new service will only take a few seconds.  Users will enter origin and destination information and after submitting the form, he or she will receive back the required route(s) to complete the trip along with a link to a live chat service in case there are any questions remaining for the customer. A virtual tour of the new service is available by visiting Metrobus on the Web at www.metrobus.com.

Public transit makes a difference
Cheryl Bolden is a strong advocate for public transportation. She knows she wouldn't be where she is today if she hadn't had  the  bus

to rely on for transportation in tougher times. Cheryl was an unemployed single mother without a car, but she was determined to continue to learn, get a good job and still be able to spend time with her son. She depended on the bus for all of her needs. She rode the bus to all of her job interviews, to the grocery store and even to the hospital emergency room once when she was very ill.

Times have changed for Cheryl. Today she works for the City of Des Moines, Iowa and uses her own car for travel on the job and to and from work. She continues to use the bus when it's convenient, as she has done since the age of four. Cheryl says that she is just one of thousands of women in her area who has relied on public transportation to live a life that includes the ability to get to work, seek health care, shop for food and necessities, and enjoy community life. Customer's Corner  A customer writes: "I would like to thank Metrobus for all the years of service that I have received since I first came to St. John's.  I no longer use Metrobus as I own a vehicle now, however, I am considering riding the bus again next winter as I know that your drivers are professional and very cautious."
